Twix came with some special needs - being blind, and having epilepsy - and needing work on potty habits. But his wonderful personality overshadowed his special needs. We are so blessed to have found Twix this truly great person and home !

Sept 09 - Update - Message from Owner
Twix is soooooooo good...doing well and still learning...!!! Everyday for the last 6-8 months...I take him to a "tree-free" park in our neighborhood...put him on a"sit / wait"....walk about 50 to 100 feet away (if he can sit still long enough for me to walk that far...!!!)...and say..."OK Twix....Run, run, run"...!!! Oh Carolyn...you should see him fly...he absolutely loves running and looks like he's smiling the whole way. I use my voice all the time he's running and he comes right to my feet...!!! Sometimes when he's going so fast....and to avoid a crash...I have to step back and he circles around me...but lands by my legs...!!! Just amazing...!!!
Don't know if you will...but I consider this a big step for him......he can now find his ball attached to a strap...(like the kind on leashes)...when we lay on the floor each night...!!! It took forever to teach him. I put the ball about 1 to 2 feet away from his head and say...."go get it"...and he has finally caught on! I had to get him to follow my fingers as I scratched the floor towards the ball inch by inch....and now he starts crawling on the floor until he finds it! Sounds easy..but it wasn't. I have to watch it, though...a couple of times...my face has been the ball...!!! He doesn't know or understand...and when it happened he acted like he was embarrassed...hung his head and then came to me for a hug...so sweet! If a ball or toy isn't right by him or in my hand...he won't play with it. Kind of sad...I've tried all kinds of things...but "play" by himself is just something he doesn't do. The ball and strap are his favorite...!!! He loves to hold the ball down with his paws and pull the strap through his teeth...over and over and over...!!!
Sometimes...he initiates wanting to play to me...and...I'm sure you remember him doing this! He starts shaking his head...hops around in circles...snorts his nose...and prances around a little...!!! I think it's so cute...and I'll play along with him when he does it!
HE WILL ALWAYS...play if it's outside and involves "rough housing" or running. He just loves to move fast! .
